Machinery and Accessories Exporters' Union (MAİB) Chairman Mr. Adnan Dalgakıran says machinery sector is the driving force of the entire manufacturing industry in terms of value-added production and the key to Turkey’s industrialization.
Turkey participated with 135 firms in ITMA (Integrated Textile and Garment Manufacturing Technologies Showcase) organized once in every 4 years in Milano, making a show of force in the fair this year. Turkish Machinery Group (Turkish Machinery), which executes promotional activities on behalf of the machinery sector, represented Turkish machinery producers and exporters with a strong promotional campaign in Milano. Machinery Exporters' Union Chairman Mr. Adnan Dalgakıran expressed the future goals of the sector as well as the philosophy lying behind its new logo.
Machinery sector is the driving force of the entire manufacturing industry in terms of value-added production. The machinery sector ranking 2nd in the world merchandise exports with USD 2,910 billion after petroleum and natural gas and ranking 3rd in the Turkish manufacturing industry with its capacity to create 0.26-unit value added with 1-unit production is the key to Turkish economy leaving mediocrity behind. We will all see that the sector amply deserves the importance attributed to itself with its multiplier effect spreading over the whole economy. Taking a symbolic step to make concrete our future goals, determination and working philosophy, we have changed our Union’s logo to reflect our philosophy. Turkey’s machinery producers and exporters, adopting courage, frankness, dedication as their basic values, are symbolized in our new logo as a star rising from this country and illuminating the world.
“Import coverage ratio in Turkish machinery sector nearly doubled in the last 12 years”
The Machinery Exporters' Union of Turkey has, since its establishment, seen the sector exhibiting a positive development, with Turkish Machinery Manufacturing Industry exporting to more than 200 countries, and with Turkish machinery sector being a respectable player in the international market with high value added, engineering skills and competitive prices, Mr. Dalgakıran said, and went on as follows: “An examination of 5-year export-increase performance of sectors reveals that the machinery sector achieved 68% increase in exports in the year 2014, which compares with 48% increase in the nearest second-ranked sector. Import coverage ratio in Turkish machinery sector nearly doubled in the last 12 years. Supplying investment goods to many domestic sectors and reducing foreign-dependency and foreign trade balance, the machinery sector is the key to industrialization in our country, as is the case worldwide.”
“Realizing a transformation in production culture, machinery sector will bring Turkey to a higher class in technology and innovation."

Mr. Dalgakıran emphasized that the new government should show more interest in industry, and went on as follows: “Turkey will advance under every condition if she uses her resources well; however, we claim that the machinery sector will not only move our country forward, but bring Turkey to a higher class. To this end, we will focus in the new period not only on production, but also on transforming the production culture in Turkey. We have embarked upon this work with the projects we have put into application for entrenching a critical mindset. The examinations we have made in the developed countries have revealed that a sound production philosophy and culture lie behind the production. We will focus in the new period not only on production, but also on transforming the production culture of Turkey. We know that the machinery sector is the key to the industrialization of Turkey.
